In the Philippines, 'BER' months, which start in September, signal the start of Christmas Season. Although, most of us really focus on it after the Halloween or after All Saint's Day.
Then as you stroll in malls, in shops, when you dine in at restaurants or even in fast food chains, Christmas songs fill the air and almost in amusement, we exclaim "Pasko nanaman"!
Traditional Christmas songs play tirelessly. We are all familiar with:
All I Want for Christmas is You
The Christmas Song
Santa Baby
A Perfect Christmas
Christmas in our Hearts
White Christmas
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Jingle Bell Rock
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
White Christmas
Feliz Navidad.....etc.
Then we also have various versions that suit each person's preference in music, such as Rock, Bossa, Pop, Alternative, etc. Like these songs:
Last Christmas (Jimmy Eat World)
Jingle Bell Rock
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
White Christmas
Feliz Navidad.....etc.
Then we also have various versions that suit each person's preference in music, such as Rock, Bossa, Pop, Alternative, etc. Like these songs:
Last Christmas (Jimmy Eat World)
Christmas (Baby please come home) (Jon Bon Jovi)
Jingle Bell Rock (The Ventures)
All I Want for Christmas is You (Sitti)
Santa Baby (Sitti)
Winter Wonderland (Sitti)
Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Sitti)
Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer (Jack Johnson)
Silver Bells (The Bright Eyes)
Santa Claus (Bob Dylan)
.....and the list goes on.
Of course, we have new songs too. I guess one of the most played and everyone's latest favorite is local TV network ABS-CBN's Christmas station ID, "Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko". A lot of us get what we call LSS (last song syndrome) when we hear it. It's not really a surprise because this song gives us the feel of a Paskong Filipino. Even Filipinos abroad feel nostalgic when this song is played. Here's the video, and I hope you also like its message:
